Arrests after Cumbria police car rammed

Two people were arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving after a police car was rammed.
The man and woman made off after the car chase on the A595 at Bothel early yesterday.
A force spokesman said an officer had spotted a Citroen Saxo being driven in a suspicious manner towards Workington at 2am.
They signalled to the car to stop but it refused, before ramming into the police car.
The officers were uninjured in the crash but their patrol car suffered “extensive damage”, the spokesman said.
The man and woman abandoned the Saxo and made off on foot, followed by police.
A man and a woman were arrested a short time later on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
They were both being questioned by police.
