Two men have been arrested after armed police were called to an incident in Maryport.

One of the occupants of a property in Main Street was threatened during the incident, which happened at about 4.55pm today.

The front door and a number of windows were also damaged.

A 21-year-old man from Maryport and a 22-year-old man, whose home town has not been given, were both arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. The younger man was also arrested on suspicion of affray.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police confirmed that armed police had been “deployed as a contingency”.
