Workington MP receives knighthood at Buckingham Palace

Workington MP Sir Tony Cunningham has been given the Royal treatment as he received his knighthood at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace.

It was a special moment for Sir Tony, his wife Anne, daughter Angela and son Daniel as he received the honour from Prince Charles yesterday.

Sir Tony attended the palace alongside other recipients, including Eden Project founder Tim Smit.

Prince Charles spoke to the MP during the investiture.

Sir Tony said: “He said something which we already know. He said ‘You represent one of the most beautiful parts of the world’.

“He also asked how the area was recovering after the floods.

“He has obviously got a very keen interest in Cumbria.”
