Appeal to find thugs who assaulted man on Cockermouth street

Police investigating an outbreak of violence on a west Cumbrian street over the weekend want the public to help them find the three thugs who were involved.
The trouble erupted at about 2.50am on Saturday, outside the Simply Drinks store in Cockermouth Main Street, officers say.
The culprits – all wearing white T-shirts and all stockily built – attacked a man, continuing to kick him while he was on the ground.
They then went on to attack several passers-by who tried to help the victim.
Cumbria police have now issued an appeal for information, saying that they want to trace the man who was first assaulted by the trio.
Descriptions have been issued for all three suspects who police want to speak to about the attack.
They were aged from mid-twenties, to about 30, and all around 5ft 9ins tall.
The first man had short dark hair and a tattoo along one of his arms.
The second had blond hair and was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt.
The third suspect had a bald head and he too was wearing jeans.
A police spokeswoman said: “Witnesses are asked to come forward, particularly if you know the male who was originally assaulted or if you know the names of the offenders.”
Anyone who thinks they can help the investigation can contact police on non-emergency Cumbria police number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
