Action taken over turbines erected in west Cumbria

Action has been taken against a wind farm firm erecting turbines near Tallentire.
Allerdale council investigated complaints from villagers about Renewable Energy Solutions, which is behind six 328ft turbines at Tallentire Hill.
They said the complaints centred around allegations that work was continuing later in the day despite a planning condition that said it must stop at 1pm on a Saturday.
Kevin Kerrigan, head of development services at Allerdale council, said: “We have investigated and believe planning conditions have been breached. Therefore we have served a breach of conditions notice, which requires the company to comply with the conditions set out.
“We recognise the concerns to local residents and will monitor the conditions and take more appropriate action if RES do not comply.”
A spokeswoman for RES said that they had not received the notice and declined to comment further.
The company admitted breaking conditions in January by driving lorries through villages near Cockermouth.
Allerdale council on that occasion said it was aware of the incident and had been informed by RES.
