A CHILD sex abuser who was jailed for more than nine years for assaulting a young girl has launched a bid to have his sentence reviewed.
Christopher Kershaw, 62, was jailed for nine and a half years after he was found guilty of intentionally touching an eight-year-old girl between January 1 and December 31, 2011, in Millom.
Last month Kershaw, now of Duke Street, Whitehaven, was sentenced to a total of nine and-a-half years.
He will serve five and-a-half years in custody and the remaining four years on licence and will remain on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely.
A sentence review case was listed to be heard at Preston Crown Court yesterday but has now been adjourned until Friday January 5.
