Members of all three teaching unions – NUT, ATL and NASUWT – could take part in the action on Friday, January 27.
It would mean that almost all of the academy’s teachers would not attend work during the one-day action.
The move comes amid a row between the teaching staff and Bright Tribe, the trust which runs the academy, over their concerns about the school environment and working conditions.
It follows a one-day strike last Tuesday involving only members of the NASUWT union.
A notice of the new strike action was expected to be served on Bright Tribe today.
Chris Brooksbank, secretary of Cumbria NUT, said: “There have been ongoing discussions with Bright Tribe, and although there has been some activity relating to our concerns about the buildings, not enough of our issues have been resolved.”
Bright Tribe has always maintained that it has been working “very closely” with all the unions to resolve teachers’ concerns.
The NUT is the only union so far to confirm strike action.
