A woman has suffered a head injury after falling whilst out walking at a Cumbrian beauty spot.
The 66-year-old woman from North Yorkshire fell on her way down from Scarth Gap, near Buttermere.
More than 20 members of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team came to her aid.
She was treated by its doctor at the scene before volunteers stretchered her back to the team's Land Rover ambulance and taken to Gatesgarth Farm, where she was handed over to paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service.
The woman was then taken by road ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
Yesterday's rescue, which began at 5pm, lasted around three hours.
