A van driver has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle overturned on the M6 near Carlisle.
The northbound carriageway has been closed since about 8.30am this morning following the incident at junction 44.
Police say the Ford Transit driver was seriously injured during the incident and an air ambulance attended the scene.
The southbound carriageway was closed off temporarily to allow the air ambulance to land. It has since reopened and one lane of the northbound side of the road is due to open soon.
The lane closures are between junction 44 and 45 for Gretna.
Police, three fire crews and Highways England were at the scene.
