The driver of a tractor spotted on the M6 in Cumbria has been reprimanded by police.
The vehicle was seen by traffic officers patrolling the motorway at about 1am on Saturday.
They escorted the vehicle from the M6, near Tebay, and reported it as a driving offence.
Cumbria Police has now confirmed that the driver received a Traffic Offence Report - similar to a fixed penalty notice - for using a prohibited vehicle on a motorway.
They will now receive a letter with details of the offence.
The incident has prompted a warning from Cumbria Police.
A tweet from Cumbria Road Police said: "Tractors aren't allowed on motorways, even if you think 'it's quieter and safer' at 1am.
"Driver reported & escorted off #M6."
