A top Cumbrian restaurant has been ranked 57th in this year’s Harden’s 100 list.

As one of only two Lake District establishments making it onto the coveted list, Forest Side at Grasmere is renowned for its commitment to Cumbrian terroir and crafting exquisite food creations using the best, fresh and local produce.

Earlier this year, under head chef Kevin Tickle, the team were able to retain their Michelin star for the second year running.

First awarded a coveted star in 2016, in the restaurant’s first year of opening, the retention of the star is testament to the excellent standards that Mr Tickle, restaurant manager Gareth Newton, and head sommelier Salvatore Balzano maintain each day.

Mr Tickle, said: "I’m very proud of the team at Forest Side and it’s gratifying to be named as one of the top restaurants in Britain.

"Our food comes from the Cumbrian landscape in every sense of the word. This place defines our ethos, essence and experience.

"It’s a delight to share our special part of the world and our food every day with our guests."

The trusted guide to the most notable restaurants in the UK, published this year’s list independently.

Rating restaurants on food, service and ambience, the Harden’s 100 is based on their annual survey of restaurant-goers, exhaustively curating dinner feedback to produce a trustworthy and accurate guide of the UK bucket list for foodies.

Harden's 27th annual poll of diners, surveyed 8,500 participants who contributed 50,000 reviews, which, as curated by the editors, form the basis for the inclusions and ratings in the guide.
