A teenager who alleges she was raped by a man repeatedly said "no" as he got intimate with her, a court heard.

Robert Long, 21, is on trial having denied raping a girl who was aged 16 at the time of the alleged incident, in December, 2015.

A jury at Carlisle Crown Court has been told that Long claims the encounter between them was consensual.

On day two of the trial, jurors watched footage from an interview the teen gave to police just hours after the alleged sex attack.

Speaking about the pair being alone together, the girl said: "Then he, like, grabbed hold of me and started, like, cuddling me to start with.

"And then he kissed me, and I was like 'oh, right, OK'. I wasn't expecting it, but, like, I didn't think much of it because it was just a kiss."

She continued: "Then he, like, pulled me on top of him and he was kissing me. And then he moved my bra up, and he was just, like, touching me everywhere."

Long allegedly then took the girl's pants off.

"And I was, like, saying 'no' and that," she told the officer. "I'd already said 'no' quite a bit but then I started to make it more, like, to get home just so I had a reason.

"I just sat down so he couldn't get to me because I knew what he was trying to do."

The girl said she was "shaking". Long allegedly then got on top of her.

"He said 'are you sure?'. I was, like, no," said the teenager.

She added: "I told him to get off. It was horrible. Then he did stop. He had hold of me for ages and just wouldn't let go.

"He was, like, biting me everywhere. I was terrified. I was just sat there.

"I was just scared. I didn't want to upset him or anything. I knew I should've done something, but I didn't know what to do."

Jurors have heard the girl was left "bruised and bleeding". They had met face-to-face for the first time that day.

After a complaint was made to police, Long, of Springfields, Wigton, was interviewed.

He denied rape. Long maintained that she hadn't said 'no', the court was told, and he thought all the acts were consensual.

The trial continues.
