A Cumbrian primary school teacher is leaving the classroom behind to set up a prosecco business.

Andrew Barton, 35, who has taught at Whitehaven's Jericho School for more than 10 years, has launched Get Fizzed - a mobile bar specialising in the Italian sparkling wine.

He has converted a three-wheeled Piaggio Ape vehicle which he will transport to events through the summer, as well as providing it for hire for special occasions and weddings throughout the year.

He said: "I’ve been working on this day and night and so it’s brilliant to see my project finally completed and looking so good – it’s turned out even better than I’d hoped,

“Get Fizzed is going to be a regular feature at Cumbria’s festivals and events throughout the Summer, serving ice cold fizz and we hope to be a lovely addition to weddings, corporate events and celebrations too. The reactions we are getting to the prosecco van are priceless! People just stop and stare!”

Get Fizzed’s first event will be The Workington International Market from July 21-23.

Mr Barton said he has been "inundated with bookings" for weddings.
