Silloth will star in the new series of the hit Channel 4 series Four In A Bed which relaunches on Monday.

The programme sees B&B owners take turns to stay with each other as they compete to be crowned best hosts after giving their honest opinions of each other's business.

Tanya Briggs - who runs Greenview Guesthouse - admits she has no idea how the four episodes she features in will look after the final edit, but had an “amazing” time filming.

She decided to take part to promote her business and the Cumbrian seaside town and srevealed: “It was a highly stressful thing to do, we were filming eight hours a day and they pit you against each other.

“Silloth is a unique gem that gets overlooked and the cameras made it look stunning,” she said.

“I was given a little sneak preview during filming and Silloth looks beautiful.

“I'm excited to see what it finally looks like. The new series starts on Monday, but I think we will be shown in March sometime.”

Tanya took part with her friend, Vicky Hope, who runs the Fairydust Emporium cafe in the town.

Her B&B was pitted against an upmarket 120-room hotel in Blackpool which was renovated for £1.5million, a pub with rooms in Callander, in Scotland and an Inn in Yorkshire.

The 55-year-old has bought properties to renovate and then sell since the Nineties and was semi-retired as a psychologist before moving to Silloth from St Bees where she had transformed the old station house.

“We came on a bleak February day and I was absolutely in awe of the big houses and cobbled streets,” she said.

The property overlooking the town's Green was a first for her.

She bought it at auction without knowing what to do with it before transforming it into a four bedroomed B&B.

She explained: “It is the first B&B I have ever had and I have had amazing reviews. I'm delighted by that, I give everything I have.

“I do have amazing optimism and joy. I love life and have passion about what I do.”

Despite the success, Tanya is considering selling her business. After completely redeveloping the house and establishing a successful business, she is ready to move on to another challenge.

She explained: “I have put a lot of time and work into it, but I am probably going to sell it. I don't get attached to my properties.

“I'm going to go off and travel on my own to South East Asia before I get too old and too tired and then go back into private mediation and counselling. It is my passion.”

Tanya, who is married to Sellafield engineer Eric, will probably stay in Silloth however and added: “It has got under my skin.”

She is looking forward to seeing herself – and Silloth - on the small screen and added:

“It has been a phenomenal experience.

“When I'm an old lady, I will be sat in a rocking chair with a perpetual smile on my face, thinking about the programme.”
