A special meeting has been called to discuss a response to plans to build over 100 homes in Seaton.

Seaton Parish Council has called a special meeting tonight to give councillors an opportunity to submit further comments on the proposal by the trustees of the Copsey Family to build 109 homes at Low Seaton.

Plans submitted to Allerdale council include building 100 homes on a field behind the Royal British Legion, four homes at Hillside, Camerton Road, and five homes north of Camerton Road.

Part of the British Legion would be demolished to create access to the new site and the club's car park relocated.

A consultation on the plans was launched by Allerdale council and is due to close on Wednseday.

Last month Cumbria County Council recommended the plans for refusal amid concerns about traffic and drainage.

But Knight Frank LLP, agent for the Copsey Family Trust, has now submitted further details to address those concerns.

Andrew Harrison, flood and development management officer at the county council, said: "The supplementary information provided is welcomed and addresses numerous concerns from this authority."

However, he added it would be "prudent to redo the access junction modelling" taking into consideration trips generated by the Royal British Legion, which shares the same access.

Seaton Parish Council will meet at the parish rooms, Causeway Road, at 7pm.
