Traffic tailbacks on the A595 at Cardewlees
A set of roadworks causing long delays for motorists using the A595 in and out of Carlisle have been extended again.
The works, at Cardewlees, were due to be finished by today but Northern Gas Networks (NGN) now say they will not be complete until Sunday.
Originally engineers were called to fix a gas leak but once repaired they extended their work to replace the pipes in the area.
It is the second time the works have been extended. The reason for the latest push back is unknown.
NGN has been approached for comment.
