Students at Lakes College are celebrating after picking up their BTEC level three results.

Equivalent to A-levels, the qualificatoins demonstrate learners' occupational and practical skills as well as including theory-based assessment.

They carry UCAS points equivalent to those of A-levels, enabling many Lakes College students to move on to higher education, while others begin their working careers.

A college spokesman said its students had excelled in courses like business, computing, nurse cadets, art and sport, which some preparing to attend universities across the country next month.

Principal Chris Nattress said: "We’re so proud of our level three students. We have had some amazing results and success stories and their results showcase all of their hard work and commitment to their studies.

"We look forward to welcoming a number of the level three students back in September for our university-level higher education courses at the college, and would like to wish each and every one of them all the best of luck in the future."
