A man accused of twice raping a woman will stand trial in the new year.

Carl Losh, 25, faced three charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today over a video link from custody.

During a short hearing before Judge Peter Davies, Losh denied two counts of rape. The charges relate to incidents which are said to have occurred in the Carlisle area during 2010.

Losh also denied an allegation of putting the same female in fear of violence by harassment.

His trial is due to get under way at the crown court on January 29.

A further court hearing will take place ahead of that trial in December.

In the meantime Losh, whose address was given as HMP Frankland, County Durham, was remanded in custody by Judge Davies.
