POP fans from across the North gathered to see pop superstars Steps take to the stage at Lytham Festival.

And the boot-scooting 90's favourites did not fail to disappoint.

Blasting out some of their biggest hits Steps fans young and old danced along on Lytham Green to 5,6,7,8, One for Sorrow, Deeper Shade of Blue and Tragedy to name but a few.

Starting their show dressed in bright pink the unmistakable Steps did what they do best: CHEESE!

With matching outfits not much different to those from their heyday, the band led by Claire Richards took music fans back in time to the 90's.

The now 30-something-year-old fans who were once teenagers dancing to these tunes in their bedrooms were transported back to their youth.

The crowd at the family-friendly festival were all in good spirits with many in the party mood.

The infectious pop songs that got the crowds dancing back in the 90's also did the job in 2018.

The only criticisms I could make is Steps spent too long changing outfits - at least four costume changes in 90 minutes and they tried to introduce new music.

All the fans wanted to hear were the big hits - in a real blast from the past.

These infectious pop hits were not the only songs to get the crowd dancing.

Dutch-party band The Vengaboys, who are also due to perform at Barrow's Ultimate Pop Fest, warmed up the crowds with hits including The Vengabus and We're going to Ibiza.

Whigfield famous for her pop track Saturday Night also made an early appearance.

Lytham Festival runs until Sunday evening.

Tonight sees Leafy Lytham Green transformed into a clubber’s dream as Pete Tong, along with the Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley, presents the critically acclaimed audio and visual spectacle Ibiza Classics.

Award-winning musician and singer-songwriter George Ezra will be joined by the stunning voice of Emeli Sandé on Friday.

They will be supported by singer-songwriter Rae Morris.

Saturday night sees legendary musician Nile Rodgers and his band CHIC headline an uber cool night of disco, hip hop and rock.
