Would-be MPS are due to be grilled by members of the public later this month.

A public hustings is set to take place at St John’s Church, Keswick.

The provisional date for the event is Sunday, May 21, from 7pm until 9pm.

The Rev Charles Hope, of St John’s Church, is organising the event for Copeland’s parliamentary candidates.

He said: “Hustings are a very good way of challenging all the candidates about their policies and their parties policies. The church offers a neutral venue in which all people are welcome and can safely express opinions and challenge each other.”

The vicar organised a hustings at the church, on St John’s Street, before Copeland’s by-election in February.

He is organising this latest event on behalf of Church Together in Keswick.
