A COCKERMOUTH brewery has begun reproduction of one of its most loved beers.

Jennings award-winning ale, Sneck Lifter, will be available in bottles next week for the first time since 2015.

Sarah Grave, of Jennings, said: “It is so exciting to see Sneck Lifter back on our shelves. We get asked on average five times a day when it would be back in stock, so to be able to be the bearer of good news is great!"

Jennings has partnered with a local bottling company Cumbrian Contract Bottling, who are only a stone’s throw away from the brewery – directly across the River Derwent.

Sneck Lifter, named after someone who would poke their head into the pub to see if there was a friendly face who would buy them a pint, was originally launched by Jennings in 1990 as a seasonal ale.

It proved so popular it was made a permanent fixture in the portfolio five years later. The full-bodied dark ale is being sold in the brewery shop.

"Having the opportunity to bottle it with Cumbrian Contract Bottling gives it that genuine local link and to sell it exclusively through Jennings makes it that extra bit special," said Ms Grave.
