Police spotted a tractor driving on the M6 in Cumbria in the early hours of the morning.
The driver was reported and the vehicle escorted from the motorway.
The incident, in the early hours of Saturday, has prompted a warning from Cumbria Police.
A tweet from Cumbria Road Police said: "Tractors aren't allowed on motorways, even if you think 'it's quieter and safer' at 1am.
"Driver reported & escorted off #M6."
