Police are investigating a street confrontation involving a number of men.
Officers said it happened in Water Street, Wigton.
No injuries were suffered during the trouble, which involved up to six men.
A police spokeswoman said: "Unknown vehicles are also believed to have been used to travel to and from the location."
It happened at about 6.40pm on Monday.
A 45-year-old man from Wigton was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released on bail while police continue their inquiries.
The spokeswoman added: "We would like to hear from anybody who may have witnessed this incident."
