A disabled man has suffered verbal abuse at his Carlisle home twice in a week.

Police are appealing for help to trace the youths responsible for the hate crimes against the man, in his thirties, in Raffles.

The latest incident, at 8pm on Wednesday, saw the man verbally abused.

Exactly a week earlier he was abused – and eggs were thrown at his house, damaging a window.

Police have confirmed they are linking the two incidents.

Detective Sergeant Ginelle Ward, north Cumbria’s hate crime incident manager, said: “Hate crime will not be tolerated in this county and any reported allegation will be fully investigated.

"Crimes such as these can leave a long-lasting effect on the victim and there is no excuse for someone to be subjected to such abuse.”
