Police are warning people to beware of a conman operating in north Cumbria who is selling fake designer jackets.
The man - said to have a European sounding accent - has been operating in Wigton by engaging his target customer in general conversation before offering them a card bearing the name Alta Moda, Italy.
The men then offers to "give" the person a designer jacket and asks them pay only the VAT.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "The clothing is not designer and of only average quality. People approached in such a way should me mindful that they are not getting the quality product they have been promised."
Call police on 101 if you can help their investigation.
