Police are investigating a dog attack near Gretna which has left two sheep dead.

Police Scotland are now appealing for witnesses to the sheep worrying incident on farmland at Nether Albie, Waterbeck.

It happened on the morning of Friday September 29. The farmer came across two sheep with serious injuries. One had died and the second was so badly injured it had to be put down by a vet.

On examination it appears that the sheep were attacked by a dog or dogs.

Constable Rebecca McClung said "It appears from what we know that a dog or dogs have attacked the flock of sheep during the early hours of Friday September 29.

"A commotion was heard with the sheep at around 2.30am.

"We are asking the local community to help us trace the dog or dogs and the owner. The cost of the two sheep is in the region of £200."
