It happened in Denton Holme yesterday at 6.40pm as the intended victims were walking along Denton Street towards North Street.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "A 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were walking along Denton Street, from Bousteads Grassing heading in the direction of North Street, when three men approached and threatened them with violence for their money and belongings."

The two victims were uninjured and nothing was stolen."

Police have issued the following descriptions of the trio responsible.

The first was a man aged about 18, around 5ft 3ins tall, with a stocky, muscular build.

He was wearing a black cap, dark clothing, and a blue Adidas jacket.

The second was a boy aged about 15, between 4ft and 5ft tall, with a skinny build, pale complexion and blonde hair.

He was wearing a khaki grey zip-up hoodie and navy tracksuit bottoms.

The third would-be robber was older than the other two, about 6ft tall, and wore a black or navy Lonsdale jacket.
