Petrol prices have risen over the past month and look set to continue to climb.

Brent crude climbed after members of Opec, the cartel of 14 oil-producing nations that accounts for 40% of the world's output, said it would continue to limit supplies.

And the RAC, has warned that rising oil prices could lead to higher forecourt costs for motorists.

The average price of a litre of unleaded in the UK is 122.3p per litre. The highest cost is 150p and the lowest recorded is 110.9

Diesel prices range from 113.7 per litre to 143.9 with the average at 124.9 pence.

In the Carlisle area, the cheapest unleaded petrol is 116.7p per litre at Asda in Kingstown, with the Harker service station nearby offering cheapest diesel at 117.9p

In Workington, the Asda store has the cheapest diesel in the area at 121.7p per litre and the cheapest unleaded at 119.7p

In the Barrow area, Asda is again top of the moneysavers with unleaded costing 119.7p and diesel 120.7pence per litre.

The United Arab Emirates oil minister and Opec president said it was committed to limiting output until the end of the year.

Last year, Opec and other nations including Russia said they would extend a deal to cut production to help support oil prices that had fallen below $50 a barrel when the agreement was struck in 2016.
