The Party in the Park took place in the town’s Vulcan Park to celebrate 20 years of Workington’s twinning agreement with Val de Reuil, in north-western France.
Saturday’s event saw crowds treated to entertainment from Wizardmarra – a storyteller who draws on traditional subjects and stories from all over the world – and songs from the Well Happy Band.
Superhero Spiderman helped keep youngsters out of trouble, while excited children also got the chance to act like motorcyclists.
The Fairly Famous Family also brought Wimbledon to the town, picking out audience members for their show.
As part of celebrations for the milestone anniversary, crowds gathered to watch dignitaries from Workington town council and French socialist councillors jointly plant a tree to mark their friendship.
