A person was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in a Cockermouth flat.
Three kittens were also rescued from the first floor property in Langdale Drive, where the fire was confined to a bedroom.
Firefighters from Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport and Keswick were called at 2.10pm yesterday and were in attendance for about three-and-a-half hours.
They used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
