West Cumbrian 70s band Necromandus launched its first album in 44 years today.

The group, which was discovered by Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, were at Workington's HMV store to meet fans and sign albums today.

Necromandus started supporting Black Sabbath in 1973 but when lead guitarist Barry "Baz" Dunnery left, plans for releasing their first album Orexis Of Death were shelved.

It wasn't until 1999 that the album finally reached the record stores.

In 2016 drummer Frank Hall, the only surviving original member, reformed the band.

Today they launched their album, also called Necromandus.

Frank, of Whitehaven, said: "I'm excited to be here, I never thought this would happen in a million years. I created Necromandus 44 years ago and after it all fell apart I thought that would be it.

"I never expected to be doing this 44 years later. We're hoping to get some big gigs in Europe. It's brilliant to meet the fans, I always loved playing music and playing it for the people."

Ben Jones, 37, of Workington, who met the band at the launch event, said: "It's good that a band like Necromandus comes here and meet the fans, it's a good opportunity."
