Money from a tip box has been stolen from a well-known ice-cream parlour in Egremont.
The incident happened at the popular Hartley's shop on Church Street sometime on Tuesday night.
Owner Mark Richardson said: "I came in on Wednesday morning and found that someone had been in that shouldn't have been in."
He said only the tip box, containing a small amount of money, had been taken.
Nothing else was stolen and no damage was caused to the premises, said Mr Richardson.
He is now calling on other businesses to be vigilant and to be "on top of their security".
Details of the incident were posted on the Hartleys Ice-Cream Egremont Facebook page. The post has been shared by around 160 times already by concerned members of the community.
