A man has told a jury he was robbed at knifepoint by masked intruders who he claimed rampaged through his home.

Frank Richey was threatened with a knife and a Taser by two men during the incident, he told Carlisle Crown Court.

The court heard from 53-year-old Mr Richey how on January 13 he heard a knock at the door of his home between 2am and 3am. Thinking it was a neighbour and that there was something wrong, he answered it.

But two men then burst into the house, said Mr Richey. Both men had made attempts to cover their faces, although their disguises slipped after they entered.

He said he recognised one of the men.

“Who was the one that you knew?” he was asked by prosecutor Stuart Neale.

“Pattie,” said Mr Richey, who added: “It is Carl I think.”

“They both made sure I was pushed back to to the settee. They stuck a knife to my throat and a Taser in my side,” he told jurors.

The men, he said, alternated between keeping guard over him and searching his home.

They asked for jewellery, money and Valium but were told by Mr Richey he had none of those items.

“They didn’t believe me. They started rampaging around the place,” he added.

Mobile phones, a wallet and cash were taken by the two men, who fled after startling the householder’s two dogs.

Two men from Carlisle stand accused of robbing Mr Richey.

Both Carl Pattie, 28, of Botcherby Avenue, and Mark Perrett, 35, of Borland Avenue, Botcherby, have pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbery.

The trial continues.
