Police have named a man who died following a serious collision on the motorway north of Carlisle.
Robert Sharp, 50, of Wyndford Road, Maryhill, Glasgow, was a passenger in a car which was involved in a crash with a lorry on the southbound A74(M) near Eaglesfield, between Lockerbie and Gretna.
The grey Peugeot 307 was driven by a 39-year-old man from Callander. He was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
Mr Sharp was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he later died.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision at about 4.10pm on Wednesday.
The driver of a white-coloured Scania articulated lorry, a 59 year old man from Reading, was not injured.
Sergeant Leigh McCulloch said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have been on the A74(M) around this time near the location and who may have witnessed the crash.
"The crash happened on the southbound carriageway about half a mile south of the Eaglesfield junction.
"We would also be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen either the grey coloured Peugeot 307 car or the white coloured Scania lorry as they headed south prior to the crash."
Diversions around the collision were put in place for about six hours and a full crash scene investigation has now taken place.
