A man will stand trial next month after he denied charges which alleged two assaults, criminal damage and the possession of a knife in Workington.

Barry Simm, 39, faced four allegations from July 15 when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.

He denied two alleged assaults on Kimberley Bennewith, and also pleaded not guilty to damaging a window and door belonging to Tracey Nicholson.

Simm, of Gosford Street, Liverpool, further denied the alleged possession of a bladed article at Mossbay Road in Workington.

He was remanded in custody.
