A man has been admitted to hospital after falling off his bike in Workington today.

Police and ambulance were called to Calva Brow in Workington just after 9am yesterday.

A police spokesman said initially they believed the cyclist, a 20-year-old from Barrow, had collided with a car.

After speaking to the man, however, they discovered he had just clipped the kerb and come off his bike.

He was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital.

No details were available about his condition but he is not believed to be seriously injured.
