A man will be sentenced next month for dangerous driving on three roads in Maryport.

Alan Baker, 62, pleaded guilty to a string of motoring offences during an appearance at Carlisle Crown Court.

Baker admitted dangerous driving on Curzon Street, Lawson Street and John Street while behind the wheel of a Jeep Cherokee on January 13.

He also admitted being more than twice the legal alcohol limit on that date, along with two counts of failing to stop after - and two charges of failing to report - an accident.

In addition, he entered a plea of guilty to assaulting a female by beating on January 13.

Background information was requested by Judge Barbara Forrester, who adjourned the case until July 31.

Baker, of Main Road, Flimby, was granted unconditional bail and given an interim driving ban.
