A lorry crash has caused long delays on the M6 near Carlisle.

Police said two lanes were closed and there was slow traffic due to an overturned truck.

The crash was near junction 44 at Kingstown, one of the key routes into the city.

This junction leads on to the A7 towards Longtown and the A689 to the north east and west Cumbria.

Motorists reported journeys taking 45 minutes to get from Rosehill to Kingstown.

A police spokesman said: "Matrix signs have been set to 50 mph."
