A team of solicitors and legal advisors in Carlisle swapped courts for kitchens as they took part in a bake off.

Staff from Wragg Mark-Bell supported the Great Legal Bake for the North West Legal Support Trust.

Friends, neighbours and local businesses joined them to tuck into the tasty treats that ranged from brownies to chocolate cake, jam rings, buns and sponge slices.

Fresh coffee from Foxes cafe on Abbey Street was also served.

A spokesman for Wragg Mark-Bell, which is based on Castle Street, said: "The NWLST supports the poorest and most vulnerable members from our community for whom access to justice is often out of reach.

"Free legal advice makes a huge difference to their lives.

"The trust supports elderly people who need help living independently, families living in terrible housing conditions and women or children who have been trafficked to the UK to be used as domestic or sex slaves.

"It also supports people who suffer from disability or illness and their carers, people who have been unfairly dismissed or have been discriminated against at work, men and women who are working for less than minimum wage.

"The NWLST’s grants work helps thousands of people like those listed here and many others across the UK.

"We enjoyed raising funds for a very worthy cause."

Legal teams from across the UK signed up to take part in the event.

The next event planned is a legal walk around Carlisle.

This will take place on Monday, May 15.

It is an 8km sponsored walk around Carlisle to raise money for local advice services.
