After 20 memorable years, Jesus and Karen Rodriguez are urging customers to join them for one last supper before the restaurant changes hands on Sunday night.

Costas Tapas has today been sold to another Spaniard José Padilla, who is to take take over the restaurant next Tuesday.

From charity events, to celebrating Spain's World Cup win in 2010, it really has been a roller-coaster journey for the pair.

Jesus Rodriguez has nothing but thanks for his loyal customers.

He said: "Thank you very much, and we hope we can have one last supper on Sunday.

"I hope my customers can come and join me, who supported us for the last 20 years.

"I am a bit upset, but we can't do this forever."

Jesus' wife, Karen who is 57, wants a rest after a busy 20 years.

She said: "We just want some life, we have done it for 20 years.

"We want to get out while we are fit and healthy."

Karen has mixed emotions about handing over the keys.

"It's been brilliant.

"We are happy, but sad very sad as we have had some great nights.

"A lot of our customers come from Carlisle, we have a lot of loyal customers.

"People come for the atmosphere, as well as the food."

Mrs Rodriguez says she will miss Costas Tapas.

"It has been lovely, we will miss it but we can't go on forever.

"The time comes when you have to let go."

One of the reasons for the sale was that the pair wanted to make more frequent visits to see Jesus' family in Spain.

Jesus and Karen have only managed to visit Spain every two to three years since they opened in 1998, as leaving the country meant closing their business.

The two Rodriguezs have a message for their customers.

"We'd like to say a very big thank you.

"We would like to thank all our customers who have supported us over the years.

"We want to inform them that from Tuesday, Costas will be under new management.

"If you want to, come and meet us for one last time and book yourselves a table before Sunday.

"Muchas gracias from Jesus and Karen."
