A Lake District pass is set to close for seven weeks from Monday, September 4.
Repair work is due to be carried out on the C2058 between Buttermere and Braithwaite. Newlands Pass is affected by the closure.
A diversion will be in place via Lorton and Whinlatter Pass.
Access will be maintained to homes, farms and businesses on the route, and pedestrians will be able to walk along the road.
The work will be carried out by contractor A E Yates on behalf of the county council.
It is due to finish on October 27.
