Two men who were arrested as part of a police probe into an attempted knifepoint robbery at a Carlisle supermarket have been released under investigation.
The incident happened shortly before 10pm on Tuesday night at the Sainsbury's store in Scotland Road.
A would-be raider left the store without taking anything, said police.
Multiple crime scene investigation vans were seen outside the shop, according to local residents.
Two men, both from Carlisle, aged 32 and 27 , were arrested and later questioned by detectives.
However, they have since been released under investigation.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Enquries into this incident are continuing.”
