Keswick Alhambra cinema is appealing for a film audience so that they will be able to screen the film The Man from Mo'wax in September.

They are joining up with cinema screening outfit Ourscreen, which allows anyone to set up screenings at cinemas near them, so long as they can get an audience together and cover costs.

The Man from Mo’wax is a documentary following the life and career of pioneering DJ and music producer James Lavelle.

It features original unseen footage from Lavelle and interviews with collaborators including DJ Shadow, Thom Yorke, Grandmaster Flash and Joshua Homme.

A Pitchblack Playback pre-show includes an exclusive mix from UNKLE's new album and the film will be followed by an interview with James Lavelle.

To cover costs a minimum of 51 tickets must be booked, at £7.50 a seat, by August 26.

Carol Rennie and Alan Hasler took over running the cinema a year ago, Carol said: “With Alan being a music fan, we’ve experimented with a number of music ventures. Some, such as David Gilmour and Muse Drones have been a great success, while other classic music films and documentaries haven’t done quite as well. The Man from Mo’Wax is clearly a very niche film, but the Ourscreen model allows us to give it a go and see if there are audiences that we might be able to bring in for this type of film, at no risk to ourselves – if it can’t cover costs, it won’t go ahead!”

People interested in the film can go to Ourscreen, find the film at the Alhambra, and then send Twitter, Facebook or email links to friends that might want to book a seat.

"If anyone else out there wants to show a particular film at the Alhambra just get onto Ourscreen, or get in touch with us direct at the cinema, and we'll give it a go together", added Carol.

If the crowdsourcing is successful, the film will be screened on September 5 at 8pm.
