Johnny Vegas has helped a Carlisle company celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The actor and comedian took a break from filming his new sitcom in the Lake District to enjoy a fundraising ball in the city.

Accountancy firm David Allen held their Platinum Ball to mark their milestone and raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

And it was an event well worth it, with the event raising a staggering £20,551.

Vegas, who is filming new programme Home from Home in the Pooley Bridge area, was among the guests.

He was a hit with other ball-goers, taking lots of time to chat with them and pose for photographs. He even donated the chance to be an extra on the filmset as a raffle prize, raising £1,700.

David Allen, the firm's managing partner, was delighted with the fundraising success and said: "We were delighted to have our very own celebrity join us on the evening as Johnny Vegas joined the table of Hillcroft Park. We would like to thank Johnny for his kindness and for the endless selfies he endured on the evening."
