Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is set to visit Keswick tomorrow as part of a country-wide tour.

Mr Corbyn had been expected to visit Whitehaven tomorrow, however, plans have not gone ahead.

Instead he will visiting Keswick, which is in the Copeland constituency.

He is set to speaking to people about local issues. He is also expected to meet members of Copeland's Labour Party in Cleator Moor.

The visit is part of his party's bid to claim seats across the country now held by the Conservatives.

The Labour party has seen a major defeat in Copeland as Trudy Harrison, for Conservatives, won the parliamentary seat in the fiercely-fought by-election in February. She then went on to win the seat in the General Election in June.

Mrs Harrison gained more votes than Copeland's Labour candidate Gillian Troughton, who stood in both elections.

Mrs Troughton, who is also secretary of Copeland's Labour party, has spoken about Mr Corbyn's visit tomorrow, and the focal point it will provide to "start the fight back".

She said: "I'm pleased that he's coming to understand the constituency and meet people living and working here."

Mrs Troughton said the visit will be a chance for Mr Corbyn to find out key issues and talk to them about what Labour has to offer.

"I think it's useful that he is going to meet people to find out why they voted and how they voted. It also useful for him and his team. It will be a springboard for us -a focal point for us to start the fight back." she added.

Mr Corbyn is also set to visit Carlisle tomorrow to host a public rally.

He will address crowds between 7pm and 8pm in Carlisle, from the pedestrianised area in Market Cross.

The Labour party lost the parliamentary seat in Carlisle in 2010.

Locally, Labour have made it their goal to take back the Carlisle constituency which currently has Tory MP John Stevenson.

A Labour Party spokesman said that while in Cumbria Mr Corbyn will be meeting local people and talking to them about a host of issues, including the issue of the cost of living.

The spokesman added: "Mr Corbyn wants to learn more about some of the key issues that are going on in the area."

Mr Corbyn’s whirlwind tour will be matched by visits for shadow cabinet members to a total of 100 marginal constituencies across England, Scotland and Wales.
