OVER 200 pupils raced through clouds of colour as they took to the field to remember a popular teacher and raise money for charity.

Seaton Junior School hosted a mini colour run in aid of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

The event had a special meaning for pupils as they ran in memory of their deputy head teacher, Jane Jackson, who died earlier this year after a short battle with cancer.

Kat Kinsella, senior leader at the school, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be holding this event, with brilliant support and organisation from Hospice at Home.

"We've been overwhelmed by the support of parents and the community and we hope to raise lots of money in memory of Mrs Jackson."

Stella Walsh, senior fundraiser at Hospice at Home, said: "Thanks very much to Seaton Juniors for hosting a mini colour run. The support has been fantastic.

"Special thanks to everyone that's supported it in memory of Mrs Jackson."

The event was sponsored by Sinclair's Jewellers.

Alex Sinclair, of the jewellers, whose daughet Marissa attends the school, said: "We were more than happy to sponsor the school especially with it being in memory of Mrs Jackson and we hope the school raises loads of money for a worthy cause."

Seaton Junior School is one of five West Cumbrian schools to host the event. The others are Orgill Primary School, Jericho Primary School, Victoria Infant School and Distington Primary School.

There will be two public colour runs – a 1K and 5K – at Muncaster Castle on Sunday, July 8.
