There is some right royal fun happening in Maryport this weekend and there is even a "throne" to prove it.

Organisers believe this is one of the only Fun Palace events to be held in Cumbria this weekend.

The Fun Palaces is a national project to "find the genius in everyone" and have creative fun.

That genius can be expressed at the Ewanrigg Community Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

Ewanrigg Local Trust has been collecting materials of all kinds - fabric, cardboard, paints, brushes and even a commode.

All that is required now is for people of all ages to go along and have fun making whatever they want from the huge amount of materials available or, if they want, they can bring their own.

ELT Development Officer Kate Whitmarsh is encouraging people to come along and take part, bring more materials or just sit back, enjoy a cuppa and watch others having fun.

Maryport's Fun Palace will be open on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm.
