Four men have been taken to hospital following a collision in Cockermouth involving two cars and a pedestrian.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The collision took place at about 12.30pm at the junction of Windmill Lane and Grasmoor Avenue.

It involved a Ford Fiesta, with a driver and passenger, and Suzuki Jimny, with just a driver.

The Suzuki went through the garden wall of a house on the junction.

It is not known where the pedestrian was.

Ambulances took two of the men to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, the other two went to the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.

Three police officers and three PCSOs attended. The area was closed off and diversions in place

Sergeant Martin Bainbridge, of Carlisle Mobile Support, said: "Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, investigations are ongoing to find out the cause.

"All four have gone to hospital.

"The road will be closed for some time while forensic investigations take place."

He appealed for any witnesses to call 101.
