Four men who deny involvement in an alleged class A drugs supply plot will go on trial later this year.

The quartet, including two men from Carlisle, appeared at the city’s crown court in front of Judge Peter Davies.

Andrew John Stevenson, 18, of Argyll Drive, Harraby and Daniel Weaver, 21, of Merith Avenue, Botcherby, pleaded not guilty to a charges which allege they conspired to supply class A cocaine and class B cannabis.

Weaver denied charges of offering to supply heroin and cocaine and Stephenson denied offering to supply ecstasy.

In addition, Stevenson pleaded not guilty to conspiring to supply ecstasy, while Weaver denied conspiring to supply heroin.

The alleged offences are said to have been committed between June 1 and October 29 last year.

In the dock alongside Stevenson and Weaver were Kevin Laidlaw, 30, and Joshua Oruche, 22.

Laidlaw, of Chay Blyth Place, Hawick, and Oruche, of Gilbert Street, Liverpool, each denied conspiring to supply heroin, while Laidlaw pleaded not guilty to similar allegations relating to cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis.

A trial for all the defendants is set to get underway at the crown court on July 3.

It is estimated this will last two to three weeks.
