Some areas of Cumbria are still subject to flood alers.
Following a period of heavy rain brought on by Storm Bronagh the Environment Agency issued flood alerts last night, warning people to be prepared that flooding is possible.
Alerts are in place for:
- Lower River Eden (Carlisle)
- Rivers Caldew and Petteril (south of Carlisle)
- Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water (Keswick)
- Upper River Eden (Appleby)
The alerts stated that low lying areas were likely to be worst affected between 1am and 9am this morning. However, the heaviest rain was forecast to the late last night.
An EA spokesperson said: "Be aware of your local surroundings, remain safe and monitor your local weather conditions. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the night."
Central and southern parts of Cumbria are still subject to a yellow wind warning. It is due to cease at 9am.
The Met Office said the second named storm of the season - sweeping across the UK just a day after Storm Ali wreaked havoc - was expected to bring gale force winds and persistent heavy rain.
